“IN OUR DAYS FEW TRY TO RECREATE THEIR HOME TO BE IN THE STYLE OF OLD ENGLISH HOUSES WITH A LONG CORRIDOR AND SMALL SEPARATE BEDROOMS. IT IS THOUGHT THAT SUCH A SOLUTION REMINDS PEOPLE OF AN ERA OF DULL COMMUNITY HOUSES, BUT IN THIS APARTMENT AN ARCHITECT THAT DOMINATES VARIOUS ARCHITECHTURAL STYLES DECIDED TO APPROACH THE ARCHETYPE OF A PRIVATE ENGLISH HOME AS A LANDMARK IN THE CREATION OF A COMFORTABLE PRIVATE SPACE.”
THE INITIAL FLOORPLAN, THAT REMINDS US OF A CLASSIC MANOR IN MINIATURE, HELPED TRANSLATE THE AUTHOR’S IDEA: PARALLEL TO THE MAIN ENTRANCE ARE TWO SYMMETRICAL WINGS SEPARATED BY A CORRIDOR
IN OTHER PERULIARITIES OF THE INITIAL FLOORPLAN ARE THE VERY FEW STANDING SUPPORTS, WHICH ALLOWED FOR A LOT OF CREATIVE FREEDOM FOR THE ARCHITECT
AT THE SAME TIME, THE LIGHT FROM THE WINDOWS WAS NOT ENOUGH TO PROVIDE INSULATION OF THE AREAS THAT ARE FURTHER TO THE CENTER. THAT MEANT THAT THE BASEMENT, IN OUT CASE TWO STORAGE ROOMS, WERE TO BE LOCATED ALONG THE INNER WALL SINCE THEY DON’T NEED EXTRA NATURAL LIGHT.
IN ADDITION WITH THE FLOORPLAN SETUP WE HAD TO SOLVE THE ENGINEERING PROBLEM: ALL THE ROOMS NEEDED TO HAVE AN AIR CONDITIONING UNITS ISTALLED WHICH LED TO HAVING LOWER CEILINGS
TO HAVE A HARMONIC PERCEPTION OF THE INTERIOR WE HAD TO CORRECT THE VIEW WITH DECORATIONS- WITH THE CORRECT COMBINATION OF COLOURS FOR THE WALLS, CEILINGS AND TEXTILES.
Additionally, the architect made the interior doors sliding in, it helped to save space, and not to create a sense of narrowness, without taking into consideration the economy of apertures.
